Ratchet Wine Presses
Wine
presses are available during the wine season, August to October or
until they are sold out. The following basket presses
have a steel base with an enamel finish, a high resistant steel
screw,
a hardwood basket and a hand operated ratchet pressing head.
The two basket halves are held together with steel bands
and locking pins. The basket halves separate for easy removal
of the pressed grapes. The larger press ratchet heads operate
at two speeds.
Wine presses are sometimes rated in size by "' tons of grapes"
it can process. Rating the press size by "tons of
grapes" can be misleading since the size, type of grape
and other factors can vary
this number. The press size or basket capacity listing
below is more accurate for evaluating and comparing presses. |

Hydro Wine Presses
The
hydro basket presses are similar to the above presses except a
bladder system replaces the ratchet mechanism. The bladder system is
more efficient and faster at pressing grapes. This press is designed
for pressing whole or crushed grapes. Standard house water
pressure is used to expand the bladder. An easy to use gauge and valves
controls the flow of water.
